Generating Free Electricity From Solar Panels

Solar panels, also called photovoltaic modules, are a series of solar-panel photovoltaic (PV) cells mounted on a frame for easy installation. Solar panels convert solar energy into electrical energy, using the energy stored within the cells. Solar panels can be used for home solar power or grid-tied systems. A single solar panel is usually composed of at least four PV cells. Solar panels create direct current electricity by sunlight and produce alternating current energy. A series of solar panels is sometimes referred to as a PV panel system, and a solar system of solar panels is a large collection of photovoltaic (PV) modules linked together.

PV is the term used to describe the electrical output generated by photovoltaic panels. When sunlight hits the solar panels, light photons are absorbed, which excites electrons in the semiconductor material. These electrons move to a collection area, where they become excited and add energy. The movement of electrons creates electricity, which is then transmitted through wires to an inverter, which changes the electricity into usable household voltage.

It sounds pretty complicated, but once you understand how Blue Raven solar panels work, it's easier to understand why they produce electricity. Photons strike atoms in the solar panel's frame, adding energy. An electron, excited by the photons in the solar panel's exposed areas, moves to an electrode attached to the module. This creates an electric current; the flow of electrons is created by conductors that are attached to the frame, and the current from the cells is routed to an inverter.

Panels may be arranged in a grid, which resembles the wiring between your home's appliances and the main power grid in your city. Grid mounting is cheaper, although it can lead to higher costs if you want the electricity produced by your solar panels to travel long distances. The most important advantage is that solar panels can supply power to a wider geographic area than a conventional generator, allowing it to power homes in remote rural areas, instead of just cities. However, grid mounting involves more maintenance than the use of direct current, because you have to keep the panels clean to prevent degradation of equipment. Another disadvantage is that the larger, exposed panels require more space to set up. It is possible to install smaller panels on buildings with small roofs.

One way to generate free electricity is to connect your solar panels to the grid. If you live in an area that receives enough sunlight each day, you could get free electricity by connecting several panels to the local grid. Of course, even this method has its limitations. Even though the sun is expected to shine for at least several hours each day in most areas, the number of hours during which the sun does not shine is generally too low to provide substantial production.  You can estimate solar savings by visiting the companies website.

A more effective approach to providing electricity from solar energy systems is to connect the solar panels to the local grid. Connecting panels to the electricity grid in this way reduces the need for expensive setup. Although the cost of the initial installation may be higher, the ongoing cost of maintaining the connection is generally much lower than the cost of installing the panels in the first place. It is also an attractive opportunity for residents in outlying areas where electricity is expensive to get, as many states are now enabling people to get free electricity from the grid by connecting solar panels to their local electric utility grids.
